EMDR THERAPY
A structured, evidence-based approach to healing from trauma and distress.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is a powerful, research-backed psychotherapy that helps people process and resolve distressing memories, experiences, and beliefs. Rather than focusing only on talking through difficulties, EMDR works directly with how memories are stored in the brain, helping them become less overwhelming and more adaptive.
It is particularly effective for trauma, but can also support a wide range of emotional and psychological challenges.
What Can EMDR Help With?
EMDR is widely used for:
PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder)
Complex PTSD (C-PTSD)
Single-incident trauma (e.g. accidents, assaults, medical trauma)
Childhood or developmental trauma
Anxiety and panic
Phobias
Low self-esteem or negative core beliefs
Unprocessed or “stuck” experiences
Many people find that EMDR not only reduces distress but also helps shift deeply held negative beliefs (e.g. “I’m not safe”, “I’m not good enough”) into more balanced and empowering perspectives.

Is EMDR Right for You?
Before starting EMDR, it’s important to understand whether it’s the right approach for you. EMDR can be highly effective for processing trauma, anxiety, distressing memories, and other experiences that continue to affect your wellbeing. During an initial consultation, we’ll explore your current difficulties, your personal history, and your goals to decide together whether EMDR is the most appropriate therapy. If it isn’t, we’ll discuss other options that may better meet your needs.
The best way to find out if EMDR could help is to get in touch. I offer a free 20-minute consultation where we can talk about what you’re experiencing, answer any questions you may have, and explore whether EMDR feels like the right fit for you. Your treatment will always be tailored to your individual needs and delivered at a pace that feels safe and manageable.

Some people notice changes within a few sessions, while others may need longer. The five-session package provides a structured starting point.

No. You remain fully aware and in control at all times. EMDR is not hypnosis.
-
People often describe it as allowing the brain to “digest” memories. Thoughts, images, or emotions may shift during sessions, but this is part of the healing process.

Yes. EMDR can be effective for anxiety, especially when it is linked to past experiences or negative beliefs.
